About Us

Chelsea Community Support Services Inc (ChelCSS) is a not for profit organisation providing emergency relief, community information and social support services to the community in the southern region of the City of Kingston.

The agency is governed by a community based Committee of Management, managed by a paid part-time Manager and staffed by a large number of trained volunteers, three part-time employees and a number of visiting professionals.

Originally known as the Chelsea Citizens Advice Bureau Inc, it was established as a result of a public meeting held in August 1976, and opened it's doors to the public on Friday 5th August, 1977. ChelCSS has had a number of homes, and is currently located in the Kingston Library building at 1 Chelsea Rd, which is also home to the Kingston Family Support Services and Chelsea Community Renewal. We are situated within bustling community services hub with close proximity to public transport.

We are members of Community Information Victoria (CIVic), an association of over fifty community support and information agencies in Victoria. We enjoy a close relationship with other welfare and support agencies in the local community and belong to a number of networks, including: The Victorian Council of Social Service, Volunteering Victoria, VicRelief Foodbank, Westernport Regional Association of Community Information Centres and the Southern Emergency Relief Network.

ChelCSS is grateful for the substantial support received from Kingston City Council which provides our office space and finances our operations through the Corporate Grants program. Without this support, ChelCSS would not exist.
